15201 + Businesswomen + Cocktails

by: bea

lbw_email_top

We are a newer business in Lawrenceville, and we’ve been making the rounds and getting to know our neighbors. We’ve noticed there are many women business owners, many women working at local businesses, and most everybody knows each other!

The thing is, not everybody gets a chance to catch up once in a while. We’re busy running our businesses! We thought we could get to know the neighbors and organize an event where the women in Lawrenceville have a chance to network and spend some time together.

The wonderful women of the Round Corner Cantina, Jesse and Sarah, agreed to host this event and offered drink specials! They generously offered a special $3 red sangria for us businesswomen in addition to their other happy hour specials: $1 off drafts, $2 off wine, $4 la cantina margaritas.

Please join us from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, September 30th to have a fabulous cocktail in fabulous company! Your RSVP is appreciated to Katie by phone (412)302-0041, email: katie@localpalette.org, or facebook.

Pittsburgh History

by: bea

Last Tuesday we had the chance to check out the Heinz History Center in the Strip District. We met up with Daniel W. Vereb, customer service associate. Danny saw our photo show at the South Park Theatre last weekend, and thought it might work on consignment at the History Center! We’re still talking about that idea, but in the meantime, Danny told us to look around.

End Of Summer SALE!

by: bea

Its the time of year when Oakland’s seams bulge with students, the tomato plants are either suffering late blight or finally producing, and we try to squeeze every drop out of the waning summer warmth. Yep, summer is on its way out. Move over tank tops and shorts, make room for jeans and long sleeve tees. In order to celebrate our business and the last moments of summer, we would like to offer 20% off of all our services.

Last Friday while strolling down Penn Avenue during Unblurred, the gallery crawl in Garfield on the first Friday of every month, we stopped to remark on the life sized cut-out by street artist Swoon.

Look Here Now!

by: bea

In 2005, I spent about a month in San Francisco. Through my job at the time, I met William Widmer, a photographer. He recently put up some new work on his website. You have to see it. Its stunning.

Local Tones! (FREE)

by: bea

At LP we are big fans of saving money! Just a year or so ago, I could splurge on a fancy ringtone but then the rates went up and it got too expensive. Awful! I feel like although the availability of ringtones has increased, the quality of the preset tones on mobile devices has gone down. After one night at the Arts Fest, that all changed.T. LoLa Cantina!

Last night was the opening for the Round Corner Cantina, at the corner of 38th and Butler Streets. That is just across the street from our studio. Which would be cool, except that their margaritas are really, really good and we’re going to want to pay a visit every afternoon around three!

Fab Coffee in LoLa!

by: bea

Well, we all know how wonderful our restaurants and bakeries in Lower Lawrencville are! But we definitely needed a good coffee shop, too! In keeping with Lawrenceville’s tradition of local spaces and small business, Espresso A Mano will soon open its doors to the public!

Why we love pgh!

by: bea

Yesterday evening Katie, Ian and I decide to take a break from the studio and take a walk around the block. We passed by few garages with some furniture out front. Since this is Lawrencville, we know that the trash will be picked up in the morning! So, naturally we start to look through and see if anything was worth salvaging.
